The world-famous Fata Morgana Fireworks Company toured the country frequently at the end of the nineteenth century. This advertisement commemorates Fata Morgana’s arrival in Coney Island in 1877, where it played at the once-glamorous Broken Land Hotel. It was said that the feats this trio of artists created have never been equalled, and many who saw the work of the artificiers behind the spectacles argued that nothing so beautiful could have been created by chemistry alone.
